Joe Beine's Genealogy Roots Blog yesterday announced new death records on line. In the Midwest there's more for more than 8 counties in four states:
Illinois: Kane and Lake counties.
Michigan: Kent and Ottawa counties.
Ohio: Several counties added to the already excellent Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center obituary collection.
Wisconsin: Chippewa, Green, Richland, and Sheboygan counties.

More Midwestern death indexes!
Normally I'm not a big fan of blogs that post only every few weeks, but I make a big exception for Joe Beine's Genealogy Roots blog. Despite the generic title, its posts are always a wealth of information, usually updating various web sites, in this case the Online Searchable Death Indexes and Records Directory (bookmark it -- you'll be back). New items there include material from Illinois (Chicago-area Jewish cemeteries, and Lake County), Michigan (Allegan, Berrien, Cass, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalamazoo, Saginaw, and Van Buren counties), Ohio (Huron and Montgomery counties), and Wisconsin (Barron, Dunn, Fond du Lac, and Pepin counties).

Midwestern Newspaper Indices
Joe Beine's Genealogy Roots Blog points to the updated Historical Newspapers and Indexes On The Internet - USA, which has useful listings for Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.
But it's not complete. It refers to the Chicago Tribune 1870-1877 index on Footnote, but if you go directly to the Tribune's own archives you can search 1852-1984. (In both cases you have to pay to see more than a sentence or two.) Also, the Indiana State Library site is supposed to have limited indices for Logansport and New Albany (currently inoperative).
